Fokker 50 sold on behalf of VLM Airlines, into Kenya

On behalf of VLM Airlines of Belgium, Skyworld Aviation is delighted to announce the sale of a Fokker 50 (serial number 20121) to a Kenyan leasing entity Gikama Ltd. Previously OO-VLR, the 1988 built aircraft has been re-registered as 5Y-WFA and will be leased to Rudufu Ltd, a Nairobi-based airline. Rudufu has passenger and cargo operations in East and Central Africa mostly in the charter sector, and serves International relief and humanitarian organisation contracts. The aircraft arrived in Kenya on 8th August.

VLM Airlines is a Belgian Airline headquartered at Antwerp International Airport. Founded in 1993, the company has 240 employees and is a successful operator of ACMI (‘wet lease’) and charter airline services, serving customers including airlines, tour operators, corporates, government and military organisations. The airline expanded activities in 2015 with the launch of regional scheduled services, to Geneva, Hamburg and Southampton from their home base in Antwerp. VLM Airlines also operates a scheduled service out of Waterford in Ireland to both Luton and Birmingham.

Skyworld Aviation is highly experienced in the Fokker 50 market, having concluded 23 sale transactions alongside a long history of leasing activity. The aircraft type is ideally suited to challenging operating environments, and the general sale/lease market is steadily moving outside of Europe. Approximately 25% of the current operating fleet is in Europe, as opposed to 40% five years ago*. Opportunities for both passenger and cargo converted Fokker 50 aircraft are opening up in African, Asian and South American territories.

Skyworld Aviation is an aircraft marketing organisation, specialising in the regional sector with offices in the UK, Rotterdam and Canada. We offer consultancy, marketing and asset management services to a large client base worldwide and to date we have concluded more than 500 aircraft related transactions for around 200 clients. The total value of transactions concluded to date totals approximately $950 million making Skyworld Aviation one of the leading independent regional aircraft marketing agents.
